MEET MARTYN

Martyn Johnson, better known as Marty McFly, Marty, or even Marky Mart, began his tattoo apprenticeship at Crimson City Tattoo in November 2023. A lifelong creator, Marty’s artistic journey spans many mediums, from cutting hair and designing custom t-shirts to sketching and dabbling in photography. His passion for tattooing blossomed through the inspiration of Kelley Healey, a talented artist and founder of Crimson City Tattoo. Kelley has guided Marty and encouraged him to step into his calling as a tattoo artist.

Marty is deeply committed to building relationships with his clients, believing that every piece of art is an opportunity to connect on a meaningful level. His journey as an artist is rooted in constant growth, with a foundation in still-life realism that has evolved into a focus on American traditional tattoos. He values the precision and strength of this style as it lays the groundwork for his tattooing career. Marty completed his first tattoo on September 19, 2024, marking a major milestone in his journey after nearly a year of study and dedication.

At Crimson City, Marty has fully immersed himself in learning the history and foundations of tattooing while soaking up inspiration from the incredible artists around him. His positive attitude, commitment to learning, and ability to laugh through challenges set him apart as a growing artist.

Outside the studio, Marty’s creativity knows no bounds. He continues designing garments, snapping photos, and enjoying sports. Above all, he treasures the time spent with his family who inspires him daily. To Marty, artistic expression and family are the ultimate joys in life.

Looking ahead, Marty’s goals are clear: to refine his tattoo application, master design techniques, and eventually become a full-time tattoo artist at Crimson City Tattoo. He’s enthusiastic, consistent, and brave; stepping into his calling and silencing the doubters. Marty’s ability to relate to others, build meaningful relationships, and bring joy to any room make him a natural fit in the world of tattooing.

For Marty, it’s not just about the art; it’s about the connections, growth, and passion he pours into everything he does. And with his favorite color, green, as a symbol of his vitality and creativity, Marty is just getting started.
