MEET PENNY

Penny has been creating art on skin since 2002, dedicating over two decades to the craft of tattooing. Her journey began as an apprentice at Skin Tight in Grand Island, Nebraska, where she laid the foundation for her career. After moving to Omaha, she deepened her expertise with a second apprenticeship and continued honing her skills by collaborating with numerous talented artists at several tattoo studios. Her most significant growth came from nearly a decade of working alongside Matt Dinovo, whose mentorship helped shape her into the versatile artist she is today.

While Penny is well-rounded in various tattoo styles, her true strengths lie in color tattoos, floral designs (both black and gray or color), and cover-ups. She’s also passionate about comic book-inspired tattoos, surreal and “weird” imagery, watercolor techniques, geometric patterns, henna-style work, and breathing new life into old tattoos through rework.

Beyond her artistic skill, Penny brings a unique personal touch to her work. As a mother of two; one born in 1997 and her youngest, born in 2016 Penny’s connection to the deaf and hard-of-hearing community has shaped her life and her art. Learning ASL to communicate with her youngest child has allowed her to provide an inclusive experience for deaf and hard-of-hearing clients. While not fully fluent, her ability to connect in ASL makes her studio a welcoming space for everyone.

Penny’s work hours vary to align with her family’s needs, particularly her son’s schedule. She communicates with clients through email at ink.penny555@gmail.com and asks for patience with her responses as she assures you that no inquiry is forgotten.

Her clients adore her not only for her talent but for her vibrant personality and storytelling during tattoo sessions. Penny creates a fun, uplifting environment, keeping the energy high and her clients smiling. When she’s not tattooing, you can find her in her garden, arranging fresh bouquets, or enjoying time outdoors.

As one of the few female tattoo artists early in her career, Penny has witnessed the evolution of the industry firsthand and continues to contribute with her vast knowledge and collaborative spirit. For Penny, tattooing isn’t just a job; it’s her passion and her constant guiding star in life.
